MottoTENAX ET CAVENDO TUTUS

Dr Barton was keen to have a lion, symbolizing physical strength, which is a family characteristic. The wreath alludes both to Dr Barton’s old Cambridge College of Emmanuel and to the athletic achievements of his sons. The double tail on the lion also refers to the fact that two sons follow their father.
