My family originated in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and my great grandfather, Carlo Francesco Luigi d'Apice Sica was born in 1816, was created a knight of the Order of the Equestrian Order of St Sylvester, Pope, the Golden Militia, by Pope St Pius IX in 1853 and came to Australia in 1859. He bore the undifferenced arms shown. The arms derive from the arms of the da Ponte family from which he descended. He continued to use them until his death in 1888 and they have been borne since by his descendants both in Australia and the UK. The arms have been actively used by all generations of the family most formally on the seals of three generations of Notaries Public. I have adopted the seven pointed Federation star of Australia for difference.
